Sea Lion Pup

On the Galapagos Islands, most species have little to no predators and thus the Islands are teeming with new life. This Sea Lion pup was left to fend for itself on the beach while the mother was out searching for food.  It entertained us with its cries and head movements, almost as if it knew that it was on show. Taking good photos was easy as we could get real close even with iPhones.

Sea Lions gather in colonies on the beach or land and a mother Sea Lion can recognise her pup’s call amongst at least 30 others.
